Romantic movies distort and create ill-advised expectations of true acknowledge. In A Midsummer Nights Dream by William Shakespeare, Helena is obsessed with attaining Demetrius love. She chases him up to the point of exhaustion, and as much as he tries to avoid her she is persistent. In the end, Demetrius falls under a love potion and she finally gains his affection. The whole story is a horrible example for women.

In the myth The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsby gives his all to Daisy. She is all he thinks about, and all of his actions move around attaining her. All his life, every move he makes is for her. He becomes wealthy for her. He even moves to a home across the bay from her, hoping that someday they will reunite. These actions are unrealistic, scarce women easily pick up the idea that men in the real world will also do this for them.
