IB Pitch

I watch this piece, Mood Indigo, by Duke Ellington and Irving Mills, being portrayed through a relaxing and theatrical interpretation. Throughout the first fifteen seconds of the song, a piano is being played quickly and vigorously; this is where I see a man spring out of his bed, hastily put on clothes, run a comb though his unkempt hair, and bolt downcast the rusty stairs of his flat tire building, believing that he is late for incline. However, when the piano fades away and the trombones and yellow trumpet begin to be heard, the man provide realize that he is actually thirty minutes ahead of schedule, and commencement exercise calmly walking down the street. This part of the song is meant to be exceedingly relaxing; the man pull up stakes continue walking on the beat, while others slowly dance around him in nine to accentuate his nonchalant attitude. There testament be quadruplet men, one starting at each corner of the stage, who will slowly begin to make their way over to the walking man.



Theyll start to close in on him until they are so close that they shall be able to pick him up; they will do so slowly and gently, insinuating that his life is completely undisturbed for the time being. The man will continue to cruise down the street until the piano sounds; at this point he will realize that his watch was broken and he will start skipping to the beat over obstacles in the road to make it to work on time.

My first image depicts how the time period of this symphony is conveyed through physical aspects such as this building; therefore, this is how I picture the mans apartment building. Because there is non ample space to construct an apartment building on a stage, this would be painted on a backdrop.
